Wickett's World - Larry Sanders isn't Bryce Harper.

Lebron, Kyrie Irving, Andrew Luck, Ryan Braun, Bryce Harper...can't miss prospects. Not every pro team has the good fortune to land a player of their caliber. In fact, MOST teams don't get the oppurtunity to land a player who's ready to step in at the professional level and be a star. They have to hope that they're players lives up to that evil word: "potential".
If you accept this, good-it means you have patience, which is a rarity when it comes to sports fans. Too often we want our teams to draft the next great thing and if they're not turning heads on SportsCenter by the time the season is less the 1/2 over, sports radio 1250's phone lines, emails and social media outlets are flooded with anger-filled comments. And let's not even talk about the overreacting hosts...
Take for example: The Milwaukee Bucks. More specifically, Larry Sanders. Sanders was drafted 15th overall out of VCU by Milwaukee in the 2010 NBA draft. I like to think we don't really find out who a player drafted can be till year 3 of their pro career. And i think all Bucks fans (and Larry himself) will admit that Sanders hasn't had a great start to his career. But you've seen flashes over the past two seasons-one of which had no training and was only 66 games long. Early in the 2012 campaign, I think most will admit that Larry Sanders has never looked better and (more importantly) or more consistant.
OVERREACTING WARNING: No, i don't think Larry will be the best C in the leage. He won't sniff the MVP award but he's got a good shot to make a name for himself in the NBA. Currently (after 3 games) he's averaging 12p/g, 8reb/g and 3bl/g. His FG% (.708) ranks 3rd in the NBA. Ask the Bucks fan closest in your life and ask them if they'd take that from Larry this year. If they answer anything but "yes", then they're expectations are far too high. Will Larry stay this consistant? I dunno. We'll have to see. But in the high tempo offense we want to see from the Bucks this year, a guy like Larry Sanders can flourish. See: his VCU days.
We were told he was "raw" coming out of college. Yep. Dont' forget, he didn't join start playing basketball "for real" until the 11th grade. This year, he's becoming a bit of a "cult hero". I, for one, hope Larry can reach that evil P-word we've heard so much about. SHOUT OUT TO LARRY SANDERS!!!

and he's a good dude to. Here's my interview with him from earlier this week
