I hate when people tell me how to do my job. Here's the deal - Chuck Freimund & i aren't screamers/overreactors. It's just not us. I'd rather stay level headed & have a discussion about it. We are NOT the "fire everyone" type of show. Just not happening. 12 sucked yesterday. There's no doubt. Worst game of his career. He's been bad vs Detroit, Seattle and now Buffalo. That has to change if he's going to win a superbowl this year. But If you're asking Chuck & I to "take them to task" ...what the heck will that solve? I know some of you will blast us for this on this page, and that's fine. But i ask you this: Wouldn't you rather have a healthy discussion than SCREAM AND YELL? Or is it all or nothing. Everybody has a bad game. (we're not even talking about the gameplan here) Did you happen to see what this same Buffalo D did to Peyton Manning?
Can the Packers beat Seattle? We'll see. But we're not even there yet. Some of you would rather be right about them not being able to win at Seattle, instead of them actually BEATING seattle. I just took a FB comment from someone who wants them to miss the playoffs so "major changes" can come GB's way...REALLY? Some Packers fans have no idea how good they've had it. Imaging being a Browns fan. Or a Bengals fan. Or a Jets fan. You're usually out of it before the season begins. Yes, that loss hurt GB's chances at a #1 seed. But like 12 said: R-E-L-A-X.
And if your'e looking for screaming & yelling, listen to Bill Michaels or the Big show.
I'll make this short. First of all, I'm not a Floyd Mayweather fan. I respect him for what he is - an incredible tactician and a tremendous defensive boxer. His record is impressive at 47-0. But is he one of the great boxers of all time? NO. BoxingNews24.com did an AMAZING job of detailing just how overrated "money may" really is. Look at who he's beaten to get to 47-0. Not really impressive. Great boxer? NO DOUBT. One of the greatest of all time? Nope. As Ric Flair said, "To BE the man, you've got to BEAT the man"!!
Now his father has all but guaranteed that Mayweather will fight his longtime rival, Manny Pacquiao some time in 2015. I'll be honest, when I 1st heard the news, I got excited. I've wanted this for a long time. Then it hit me - it's 2014, NOT 2007. Pacquiao will be 36. Mayweather will be 38 depending on the date of the fight. 38. Think about that.
This fight SHOULD have happened when both boxers were closer to their incredible prime. Why hasn't it happened? According to MANY people, it's because Mayweather didn't want to damage his undefeated record. I agree. Even as recently as LAST MONTH, Pacquiao claims "money may" has ducked him AGAIN.
Will I watch the fight? ABSOLUTELY. Will it set records for Pay-Per-View buys? I have no doubt in my mind. I just wish it would've been 7 years ago when we REALLY could have seen these two at their best.
P.S. - My best guess is that this fight happens on May 2nd, the night of the Kentucky Derby. Mark that down. I'll take Floyd in pts...but I'll be rooting for Manny.
Now that the wild card games are over and we can get to the Divisional series’ rounds of the Major League Baseball Playoffs, I thought I’d offer my predictions out there.
Note: I picked Oakland and San Francisco in the WC games so I’m officially 1-1.
NLDS San Francisco vs Washington. On one hand you have the team with the best record in the NL in the Washington Nationals. They’re young, exciting and REALLY good and don’t forget about. And then there’s the Giants who have won 2 World Series titles in the last 5 years. Washington has truly been building for this. NOW is there time.
X-Factor: Washington P Doug Fister who won 16 games (after time on the DL) & has a 2.41 ERA after getting traded by Detroit in the offseason. He was AMAZING for the Tigers in the postseason and he’ll do it again. I’m taking the NATIONALS IN 4.
Dodgers vs Cardinals. How do you bet against LA? They say pitching wins - They’re rotation is LOADED with the Cy Young/MVP winner in Clayton Kershaw ALONG with Zack Greinke and the UNDERRATED Hyun-Jin Ryu. And then there’s the Cardinals…who just…ugh….win because it’s “The Cardinal Way”…PUKE
X-Factor: Yasiel Puig – his mistakes cost LA a run at last year’s World Series. Will he play under control & be the dynamic player he’s developed into or will his emotions get the best of him again? I’m taking the Dodgers in 5.
Detroit vs Baltimore. Detroit made the biggest move at the trade deadline by acquiring pitcher David Price. LOOK AT THAT ROTATION – Scherzer, Price, Verlander, Porcello. YIKES. The Orioles’ Nelson Cruz had a MONSTER season.
X-Factor: Detroit closer Joe Nathan. His ERA is 4.81. HE’S A CLOSER. Keep it together and the tigers will go to the ALCS. Fail? Well, do you remember LAST SEASON? I’m betting on the starters and an healthy offense- Tigers in 5.
Royals vs. Angels. WOW – what a game we all saw in the AL Wild card. Can KC have ANYTHING left, emotionally? The Angels are the bullies with the best record in baseball. Will they be able to handle the speed of Ned Yost’s Royals?
X-Factor: LA’s Josh Hamilton – he’s back & (allegedly) healthy after missing 22 of the last 25 games. Which player will he be? I’m rooting for KC, but I’ll say ANGELS IN 3
NLCS – Nationals over Dodgers ALCS – Tigers over Angels World Series – Nationals over Tigers – Doug Fister gets his revenge in game 7 for being traded.
