Brewers acquire RHP Thompson from Phillies

August 14, 2018 - 5:16 pm

The Brewers announced a few pitching moves after Tuesday's 7-0 win over the Cubs. First, the team acquired pitcher Jake Thompson from the Phillies for cash. Thompson was a second-round pick in the 2012 Draft, and made his MLB debut in 2016 with the Phillies. The right-hander has MLB experience as both a starter and a reliever, and posted a 3.88 ERA in 11 outings (8 starts) for the Phillies in 2017. The team optioned him immediately to AAA-Colorado Springs. Alec Asher, acquired earlier this season, has been designated for assignment to clear a roster spot. The team also announced that reliever Matt Albers will began a rehab assignment with AA-Biloxi during Tuesday night's double-header against Mobile.
