Green Bay, WI - Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy will name a new defensive coordinator.

He is former Browns head coach Mike Pettine, who was out of football for a year after the Cleveland Browns fired him at the end of the 2015 season. In 2017 Pettine served as a defensive consultant for Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks.

Pettine, pronounced "PET-in" is orginally from Doylestown, PA. Pettine's father was a legendary high school football coach.  For four years he served as the New York Jets defensive coordinator before a stint with Buffalo, then was hired as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns for two seasons.

Reports were McCarthy was interested in speaking to a number of candidates to fill Dom Capers spot as defensive coordinator, but several were unable to meet with the Packers. They include the Lions Teryl Austin, the Bears Vic Fangio, who appears to have decided to remain in Chicago. READ MORE
