Green Bay, WI - The Packers starting quarterback will be out indefinitely. That's not something that has been said very often the last 25 years.

After suffering a broken right collar bone following a hit by Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr, the Green Bay Packers have placed Aaron Rodgers on the injured reserve list. Rodgers underwent surgery Thursday night to repair the fractured bone. Friday morning head coach Mike McCarthy said he was told the surgery went well, but that the focus now was to rest and recover.

"Aaron is in recovery mode now. He will not attend Sunday's game," said McCarthy.

Packers GM Ted Thompson released this simple statement late Friday afternoon via e-mail: "The Green Bay Packers have placed QB Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve. The transaction was announced Friday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson."

Back-up quarterback Brett Hundley will make his first career NFL start Sunday at noon when the Packers (4-2) host the New Orleans Saints (3-2) at Lambeau Field. READ MORE
